Steve Fisher was raised in Durand, Wisconsin. Mr. Fisher graduated from Durand High School, where he studied band under the direction of Gerald Gleason. In 1994, Mr. Fisher was awarded a BME (Bachelors of Music Education) from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While at Eau Claire he studied conducting under Donald S. George and played in numerous ensembles. Steve studied trumpet and French horn under Robert J. Baca and Kendall Betts, respectively. Steve, while at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, was an active member of Phi Eta Sigma academic honor society and a quarterback for the football team.

Since Mr. Fisher’s arrival at Waukesha North High School in 1995, the Northstar Band Program has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success: State Marching Band Champions in 1996, 1998, 2002 & 2003; consistent superior ratings at WSMA Large Group Festivals; appeared and performed in the 1997 Washington, D.C., National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, 1999 and 2004 New York City Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the 2002 and 2007 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade; appeared and performed for the 2002 Major League Baseball’s Pre-Game All-Star Game Celebration, for two NFL Green Bay Packer halftime performances, and for numerous Special Olympics and United Way events.

In addition, Mr. Fisher was the School Districts of Waukesha’s Sallie May "First Class Teacher," and in 2002, Mr. Fisher was awarded his MA (Master of Arts) in education with an emphasis in music from Mount Mary College.

Steve and his wife Shelly have two beautiful daughters, Grace and Isabelle.
