The music program at Waukesha North High School includes balanced curricular opportunities in band, choir, orchestra, and jazz ensemble.  Each music area offers varied co-curricular entities, ranging from musical theatre to pep band to solo ensemble experiences.

The Waukesha North Bands have enjoyed much success over the years, including:

  • 2007 – Pasadena, California Tournament of Roses Parade
  • 2004 – New York City Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • 2003/02/98/96/92 – Wisconsin State Marching Band Champions
  • 2002 – 73rd All-Star Pre-Game Celebration – Miller Park, Milwaukee
  • 2002 – Pasadena, California Tournament of Roses Parade
  • 2002/1997/94/93/91/89 – Green Bay Packer Halftime Performances
  • 1999 – New York City Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • 1997 – Washington, D.C. National Cherry Blossom Festival and Lincoln Memorial Concert
  • 1995 – Pasadena, California Tournament of Roses Parade
  • 1992 – Phoenix, Arizona Fiesta Bowl Parade
  • 1989 – St. Petersburg, Florida Festival of States
  • 1988 – Performance for Vice President George Bush
  • 1986 – Performance for President Ronald Reagan

The Waukesha North Band program is comprised of the Varsity Band; Concert Band; Symphonic Winds & Percussion; Wind Ensemble; Jazz Ensemble I & II; North Pep Band; and the “Northstar” Marching Band. Northstar concert bands enjoy the distinction of consistently being awarded superior ratings at Wisconsin School Music Association festivals.

Waukesha North High School is especially proud of the “Northstar” Marching Bands’ 2004 appearance in the 78th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and their third Pasadena appearance and performance in the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The Waukesha North Band program strives to offer a wide range of musical experiences to the more than 350 participating students.  The “Northstar” Band is second to none in their support of and participation in Greater-Milwaukee community events, i.e. parades, etc.

Self-improvement is the central focus of the program, realized through self-discipline and commitment to the goals set.
